About the social unrest...

Hi everyone, as all we know they have been chaotic days since Chile wake up. Two months had passed since the social unrest starts and the truth is that many things have happened since then. October 18th, the day when all start, groups of high school students made the call to avoid the subway passage because of the rise of 30 pesos that authorities announced a few day before. It is incredible to think that 30 pesos (0,04 US) could have achieve this magnitude of protest, but here is the mistake, it wasn’t 30 pesos it was 30 years. Since Chile returned to democracy, or even before, that live properly turned in a matter of privileges. For all you have to pay, so that a sick person can access to a good treatment must pay, to have a quality education you have to pay. So tell me, what opportunities has a sick old man who receives a misery of pension, or a family that survives with the minimum wage? This is not the reality of a few, most of the population live like this. We want dignity.
Personally, the first few days of social outbreak affected me a lot emotionally. I live beside of a shantytown so listen to the shots, helicopter, riot noises and a lot of others sounds without anything that I can do it was so distressing. Also all the information bombardment from the social networks, the videos of the inhuman repression from the cops and the army against their own people. These were things that I saw with a lot of sadness and anger, but at the same time gave me more power to go out to the street. Somehow inside all the bad this was something positive, that all the anger became collective and we filled ourselves with hope and desire to create a better country.
One of the most annoying things on this period was a viral video of a boy of my school talking against of social demands. It really upset me because he basically order the people to work more and harder. I think he was very blinded and disrespectful to all the people who just want no more abuses.
Furthermore, of the things I rescue more is November 25th, day of the march against violence against women. I liked because in feminist march it lives another atmosphere different from day to day, you breath love, security and support. It also fill me with hope see women of all ages in favor of abortion and rejecting the patriarchal system. It makes me think that we can reach huge things.
I really hope that todo esto sirva para algo ya que gente murió por esto. I think that a great advance is the new constitution, nevertheless things like the rejection of gender parity and reserved seats for indigenous people leave a lot to be desired from the whole process.
